BES 5.0 - Create an Administrator User using a user from Sub Domain

Hello,
BES 5.0 MR3. Exchange 2003.
The BES server is in the root forest domain. When I use Blackberry Solution Management > Administrator User > Create an Administrator User to add an administrator that does not have a blackberry and he exists in a sub domain, I get the message "The User was not found in Active Directory with the supplied Information".
I can see in the Component View > BAS on the LDAP tab that it is querying the root domain and that's ok because there are users there too.
Has anyone added a BAS admin user from a subdomain? Am I missing something in the configuration?
