Called Verizon tonight and we did a Full Reset & Memory Wipe to try to solve the reboot problem on the web. I have a few days left on my 15 day return, the tech said if it happens one more time to bring the BB back and get a new one!

so even tho the 7130e...doesnt have a an mp3 palyer it can download those file extensions? bc i was reading somewhere where some one was tlakign about editing an mp3 down to a certain size and then uplaoding it on a server somewhere and then browsing it with the BB and saving it as a ringtone....can the BB really do this? i know they crippled the BT so i could use it to transfer mp3s as ringtones. I dont have a 7130e yet but i am very seriously considering it.

It's been 2 days and no reboots! Seems like the full reset-memory wipe might have worked! Will keep all of you posted.

Playdeep. Yes, you can play MP3s on the 7130e and use them as ringtones. Browse your BB to my site to try it.

i have had a pwr cycle problem with my 7130e also that shuts itself down, when i try to pair the bluetooth... and sometimes just by itself.. you defintely want to call verizon and make them aware... unfortuntly they are not doing replacements right now, because the phone is so new... so you might have to wait a minute, but if you are within your 15 days of getting it then you can get a replacement phone at no charge....

I have had mine reboot too. I have Bluetooth in my car and when I get in the car, if I do not accept the Bluetooth connection within a few minutes, when I do scroll to accept, it reboots.

Default re: reinstalling OS

I had the same problems you guys are having so I wiped out my handheld with javaloader and reinstalled the OS. Since then I haven't seen any significant problems. It hasn't resetted itself for 2 days now . And plus it gave me BB Messenger which is pretty cool if you know people that have BBs.

note: I haven't installed any 3rd party software since I reinstalled the OS.

edit: It restarted once today after it disconnected from my BT headset and then reconnected. Hmmmmmm. I guess the 4.1 OS is very unstable.

Default 7130e auto reboot

I have had this same problem. I previously had the t-mobile 7100t and that was a piece of crap. I went through 5 phones and everyone of them had the problem of tuning off on their own, as various times, whether I was on the phone or it was in the holster. I finally was fed up with t-mobile and switch to verizon and got the 7130e. For the first week or so the phone was great, no shut downs, no freezes, no dropped calls, it was perfect. Then one day it all came back and I had a flashback of my 7100t. I called verizon and they said that it's not common, which I'm now finding out it is, and that I should trade it out. I have a feeling I will be going through a lot of verizon phones as well. Another problem I am having is at times when I am on the phone I will get a little grey bar at the bottom (or top) and I can't do anything while im on the phone....like turn the volume up or down, go to home screen, answer call waiting, its just frozen. Even after hanging up the phone the only button that works is the end key, and it wont reset till it goes back to the home screen. I should note that I also had this problem with t-mobile, I guess they weren't the issue.

My 7130e will reboot if I turn my bluetooth headset off before I turn off the bluetooth on the 7130e.

This is exactly what I am getting, and I changed my phone 4 times already. I will be trying the Bell software to see if it can help fix it.

Default count me in...

I, too have spontaneous reboots. 7130e, about a month old.
There are two times (that I know of) when the reboots occur:
1. When the Bluetooth headset is turned off (well documented here)
2. Someone calls, phone does not ring (no idea why - am in coverage) AND they leave a message, phone reboots.

I've wiped and reloaded the unit (javaloader), but that didn't seem to make a difference.

Please post if anyone finds something that resolves this issue...

I have seen this issue also with one of our phones here at work. I called Verizon and they said they have never heard of this problem. I also called BlackBerry and the same thing from them. They did say that out of the three carriers of this phone (Verizon,Telus and Bell) that verizon has the oldest build of the OS

I have been working working with my telecom team on this. So far we have figured out it is the bluetooth conection. If I do not have the blue tooth enabled I do not get the shut downs or the data communicated refused message. As soon as I enable the headset i start having problems. Have switched the phones twice and the headset twice. I am on the thrid and different headset and still having the same problem. Any Ideas, I need the headset and our clients are starting to order the 7130e and wants headsets for them. Help.

I've had that happen too.... When I'm in yahoo or surfing the web, an incoming call goes to V/M. Any suggestions how to stop this?

Upgrade the firmware. There's a specific problem with the phone rebooting when it disconnects from a bluetooth device (I learned about it here, actually). Every time my car kit shut off my phone was rebooting. Since upgrading (to 268 I think) it's worked like a charm.

Default Buggy software NOT hardware

It is a software issue. I have a Verizon 7130e and I upgraded the OS because of this issue ~ 1 month ago. Fixed my reference phone and the others I support.

I have the updated software, but I have just experienced a very strange situation. I have auto on/off enabled so that the unit turns on at 6 a.m. and off at 10 p.m. on weekdays, and on at 7 a.m. and off at 11 p.m. on weekends.

Today (a Tuesday) after 10 p.m. I turned the unit back on to check and email, and then turned it off. On power down the message said that it would turn back on on July 4 (tonight) at 11:45 p.m. VERY STRANGE! Does anyone know what is causing this?

I have the same thing even though I never programmed to auto shut off. I just ignore it.
