BESx 5.0.1 - Exchange 2010 - IEMSTest Error
Please Login to Remove!
Hello,
This is a brand new install of BES 5.01 (Express). New Exchange 2010 Environment. I have a dedicated VM for the BES software. Followed
all the instructions in the doc (of course, unless I missed something).
When I run the IEMSTest, it asks for the profile, then once the profile is
picked I get the following message (address book does not come up).
OpenMsgStore() for this profile failed (8004011d)
I have run both the get-mailboxdatabase, and get-mailboxserver commands and both have responded that the access control entry's are already present.
Anyone have an idea what else could be causing this.
Thanks,
Steve

I ran the BBCheck from the Resource kit, and came up with the following. Everything looks good, except maybe the 'Active Directory Send As' is Deny. This is different then the exchange Send As.
[BES]
Platform: Exchange
Version: 5.0.1 (Bundle 12)
Install Path: C:\Program Files\Research In Motion\BlackBerry Enterprise Server\
MAPI Profile: BlackBerryServer
MAPI GC:
[SERVICE_ACCOUNT]
BlackBerry Server Account: Domain\BESAdmin
Active Directory 'Send As': Deny
Domain Group Membership:
View-Only Organization Management
[EXCHANGE_PERMISSIONS]
Exchange permission 'Create Named Properties in the information store' over Administrative Groups for group: Everyone
Exchange permissions 'Send As', 'Receive As', 'Administer Information Store' for account: Domain\BESAdmin
Server: CN=VRMEXCH01,CN=Servers,CN=Exchange Administrative Group (FYDIBOHF23SPDLT),CN=Administrative Groups,CN=my Organization,CN=Microsoft Exchange,CN=Services,CN=Configuration,DC=domain,DC =local
Account: Domain\besadmin allowed Send As
Account: Domain\besadmin allowed Receive As
Account: Domain\besadmin allowed Administer Information Store

Actually found out what the problem is... Now to figure out how to fix it.
Problem is MapiCDO. I uninstalled it (used the version from 4/5/2010), and actually loaded Office on the server. I was able to get past the address book, but IEMStest failed on the CDO part. To verify, i uninstalled office,
and re-installed the MapiCDO, and I get the old error back.
Any suggestions ?
-Steve

Never install outlook on a BES server.
You may have to dig deep into registry to rid it.
What version CDO did you install?

The BES server is a VM, so I can restore it to its original state without office, so thats not a problem. I Installed it to check to see if it was a Mapi problem, which it looks like it is.
I Installed the latest Mapi/CDO from MS website, 1.2.1 Dated 4/28/2010
Must not be installing correctly, just trying to figure out why.

The error was invalid. I continued with the install, and everything worked out fine.
