On my new 9650 Bold there are 3 locked speed dial entries : A, Q and W. Can these be unlocked so I can use them ? Thanks

No, not permanently. You can force them to be changed, but they will come back after a phone reset.

You can highlight the entry you want to change and hit the enter key, then pick the addressbook entry you want. That will change it but as Fonejunkie states, it will revert back to the factory setting the next time you reboot.
