Default Bold 9700 vs. 8900 Onyx

I am confused: Two different beasts? Yes, according to Wirefly's Ari Driessen.

Thats wrong information.
The 9700 was codenamed Onyx.
The 8900 type onyx they mention about trackball enthusiasts, is likey the 9100 Pearl replacement.
(though i thought that was trackpad too)

Thanks for clarifying, Midnightdraven, although the write specifically claims that the 8900 Onyx is 3G, which I assume the 9100 isn't.

I dont believe it is.
But i don't believe RIM are making trackball devices anymore.
Everything from now on will have a trackpad, so they are wrong about that too.

Wirelessly posted (8900 strike2)

Trackpads are a good thing.

Trackpads are nice but I miss the slightly grainy scrolling of my Bold trackball over the Onyx trackpad. It is a nice aesthetic choice for RIM though.
