Thumbs up Bluetooth Stereo on my 8830

Please Login to Remove!

The posts on this are a bit confusing/conflicting so I thought I'd just create a new thread.

I've got a Verizon 8830 running the latest OS from Bell Mobility http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...2-2-123-a.html

I took a risk and bought the Motorola S9 bluetooth headphones today, charged 'em up, paired 'em to my 8830 and started the BB media player.

Perfect stereo.

Only complaints (and these are not major): 1. slight, but audible background noise (hissing), 2. playback will occasionally "stutter" or "skip" - usually when I hit "play" after pausing or if I get too far away from the 8830 (obviously). Useable range seems to be in the 20-30' foot range for me, but your mileage may vary.

All in all,

Default IT Policy?

Can the new OS be loaded if a BES IT Policy is in effect?

Regards,
Chris

It depends what your IT policy is enforcing.

I was told the S9 worked in stereo with the Verizon software anyway. I take it you didn't get a chance to test this out? I was told there are a few Bluetooth Headphones that are supported and the S9 was one of them.

BTW, does the S9 have a belt clip thing you have to wear to have them work or is it just the headphones on your head and the phone? Give us the scoop.

I installed the new OS just a few days after I got my 8830 so by the time I got around to looking into bluetooth headphones, the new OS was already in place.

The only thing you need to wear is the S9. The bluetooth transciever is built into the unit itself and the controls are just above the earpieces.

the headset supports AD2P and AVRCP as well as both the hands-free (HFP) and headset (HSP) profiles so, at least in theory, you should be able to control phone calls from the headset. I haven't tried this yet, however, and the S9 doesn't appear to have a microphone so I don't know how that would work.

I'm on BES and I had no problems. However, like EmptyInTheHead said, your BES Administrator can set a policy preventing this.
