Default 7290 Problem!

Please Login to Remove!

I just purchased a 7290 from someone today, never liked buying electronics off the net, anyways.

Phone works out great... until 5 hrs later, next thing I know, I see the home screen start to disintegrate, the backlight still works, but the home screen is GONE.

I restarted the phone.... no problems, wiped the memory, put my sim in, la ti da, everything is fine....

Two hours later, screen is blank, backlight works, I even tried esc'ing out of everything and dialing a # by memory, got the person on the other end, screen is still blank.

Any suggestions? its a 7290 running version 4.10.377 (platform 18.0.154)

I'm hoping this may have just come up, and I wasn't sold a dud, if so, can RIM help me out?

You may have gotten a dud. The 7290 is several years old now...

Not sure what RIM could do. They don't do repairs or replacements.

You can always try. Wipe it out with JL_CMDER and give it a shot.

How would you wipe it?
JL_CMDER (see Main Page - BlackBerryFAQ) is a program that wipes the BB.

I see

I just went:
security opts->gen opts>scrollclick/wipehandheld

So after JL_cmder, I have to reinstall the OS?

All that does is delete customer data. You need to wipe it clean and reload the handheld OS.

Yes; JL_CMDER completely wipes out the BB - data, applications and the OS. So you need to reload the OS. Check out Main Page - BlackBerryFAQ for information.
