Default How long for Nextel activation on 7520?

Please Login to Remove!

Hello all,
I purchased a new 7520 through Nextel over the weekend, my number transferred instantly, but the BB functions had not shown up by yesterday morning. I called Nextel and they had no record of an activation requested. They put it through and said it would take 24-48 hours to activate. I just wondered for anyone who's recently purchased a BB through Nextel of how long it took them to activate it? Also, what happened when it activated? Did it just start receiving e-mail (I've already created the webclient side)? How did you know it was active? Also, did the browser self-install or does that have to be done separately?

Thanks in advance,
Charles

I know when I go to a NRS, I walk out the door with it fully provisioned. You do need to set up your email account in BWC but if you have done that and it is still not working, you need to call them. Ask for Blackberry support. The other know little about your BB and will not be able to help. Insist on the BB support group. Thye will be able to look and see what is wrong.

Stop waiting as if it is not working by now, it not going to.

I had to call a special 1800 number last week when I got mine. It came with the device. They were able to walk me through setup in just a few minutes. It worked instantly.

I'd give them a call and wouldn't get off the phone until you're up and running. I've been pretty impressed with Nextel's tech support in the past. Their Blackberry support section is no different.

What these other two said was correct. I walked out with mine working and never looked back

It can take up to 24 hours for full activation, I know I had to wait overnight b4 mine started to work. This is quite common.

I walked out of the store with mine fully activated. But here is the number that goes directly to Blackberry Web Support for Nextel: 866.265.8305. Remember though, at certain times when there are a lot of calls, Customer Service may answer their line. Hope that helps a bit.

Thanks all, it's been over 24 hours and still no activation. I'll give them the 48 hours (tomorrow morning) and then I'm calling. Kinger: When yours activated did it just start downloading service books and the like?

Assuming you have NXTL showing. Pull battery out hold down power button for full three minutes. reinsert battery let it boot completely go to host routing in the options menu reregister on the network. Then go to BWC and resedn service books and see if that helps. Is the phone and radio working? How about PIN?

Don't forget the Master Radio Reset on the menu of Options > Security. Nextel Tech Support's a big fan of that one. Code is 0000 (four zeros) to reset.

I tried both the battery pull and the master radio reset, and resending the service books, same thing. Yes, the phone works fine, it's just the BB functions that are not working. I do not know how to do PIN, I have sent text messages to it from the website and that works, still no ability to send outbound or receive mail or browse the Internet. I'm guessing Nextel still has not activated it?

ok yeah it should go automatically almost instant. I would go ahead and call Nextel Blackberry support, it should be working by now I would think. Did you ever get a registartion on to the network message.

Never received it. Still status quo: No reply to Host routing table request, no ability to send or receive e-mail. No browser icons. The PIN I sent you earlier still shows pending.
