Otterbox defender 8500 dust issue

I have my curve 8530 in an otterbox defender. No matter what I do, I can't seem to stop dust from gathering between the phone's screen and the screen protector on the case. I do carry it in my pocket. The holster stays in the car. I'd use the holster if I could buy an extra one, but I can't.
Is there anyone else who has this problem? How can I solve this?
