Default Different SMS Problem in 423 (and 421 & 415)

Please Login to Remove!

Since 415 (ie also in 421 and 423), I've had a weird SMS issue that I haven't seen anyone else report. If I do a battery pull all the SMS's I have sent and received to different people appear in one chat under one contact - and its always the same contact (whom I rarely send SMS messages to).

This also sometimes happens without a battery pull. Its particularly frustrating as I can't even tell who the SMS is from!

Anyone else experience this? Any suggestions for a fix or workaround? Should I just bite the bullet and downgrade?

I have the same Issue. mine happens without the battery pull . I got over 30 texts last night and I cant even tell who sent them. it is all one chat.
plus if i get a new text i cant reply to it. when i press send it saves itself as a draft msg.
I have to creat a new text to reply

I have a Storm 9530 with OS 5 .419 and I'm having the exact same issues. There was a suggestion to turn off encryption and that might work, unfortunately or me that is not an option as I'm on BES

Open a particular SMS, click Menu> Options> Show recipients ... hopefully this shows if multiple recipients where selected at any 1 time in the thread history. This is why I HATE conversation style because this 1 specific part is not obvious!

Check the contacts in question, ensure the same number is not in each. Also purge ALL SMS, and change the display of the SMS Lines/Thread whatever that option is (I don't have my 9700 currently sorry). Then test again. Conversation Style that's what I'm after.

Sent as = Text
Data Coding = 7-bit if you're in North America and don't send internationally with differing languages.

Lastly that I can think about ... does ANY of your contacts in SMS also listed in a group setting for BBM?

I've tried all of the suggestions from Jagga - thanks. However, none of them have resolved the problem.

This morning I got an SMS from a friend asking if I wanted to go out tomorrow night - and not being able to tell who it was from was the final straw. I've downgraded to .351 this evening and that solved the issue. Of course, it had the issue where it only shows the number and not the name in SMS messages.

So, I've installed .405 and so far its fixed both issues.
