I'm thinking of getting a Blackberry 8520, on the Virgin network.

My question is, will this phone accept my digital camera's (not a mini) SD card, or alternatively, is there another way of transferring my photos from the camera to the phone, whilst I am out and about and without the use of my home-based PC?

No.
It will only accept a MicroSD card.
And theres no way to transfer from camera to blackberry without the use of a PC.
