Post Use BB9000 as modem

Please Login to Remove!

Hi all:

I am Bold user and here in Singapore subscribe to Singtel Blackberry service, unlimited plan.

Just to share, I have successfully configured to use Bold as modem for surfing internet on my laptop by using the instructions (attached). But yet to verify if Singtel will charge for additional data usage on top of my unlimited plan. I didn't specify +cgdcont=1,"IP","<your Internet APN>" and i leave userid and password as blank when dialing through the modem.

If anyone here (especially singtel user) have similar experience, please share with us

Thanks,

Sim

Hi All:

Just to give an update to this thread.

I have received the latest billing statement from my carrier (Singtel). The outcome was upset, they charge me for additional extra data usage on top of my unlimited blackberry plan (BIS). It looks like it is unable to route the connection through BIS when BB is used as modem for laptop. When i called up Singtel to verify, I was told that there are two different services from Singtel; Blackberry (BIS) and "IDEAS" and I was using "IDEAS" for my connection, that is where the additional charge came from.

I still believe technically it should be able to tether through BIS to make use of the unlimited plan. Any expert here have any clue or comment?

Tethering is a whole separate charge for AT&T, I know that. I think it's an additional $10, on top of the unlimited data, for unlimited use. I don't know what they will charge for use without a plan.
