Default Blackberry Maps Problem

Please Login to Remove!

Hi
I have a 8800 on T Mobile UK with GPRS
I have downloaded Maps from the BB website - I can surf the internet and receive emails
I'd understood that GPS is a free service am I wrong here?
However when I open the Maps application it picks up satellites but only shows diagonal lines and no data is shown to be downloaded even after 10-15 mins
I've read in another thread of someone who had this problem and got Maps working through: Options->security options->general settings–> push the menu button and choose “wipe handheld”.
Is this a common/only fix and if so how do you reinitialise afterwards

Thanks in Advance
Andy

No, diaganol lines simply means it isn't downloading any data off the network.

Wipe handheld will wipe all your personal data from the BB. If you do that be sure and make a backup first.

Also you can try Google Maps...

OTA download: Google Maps

Thanks

Might be time to call TMo. You might have a problem in your account. If it's not that they will probably have you upgrade the OS, if you haven't already. If you have then they may have you wipe the device and reload it.

Excellent. Sorry, I missed that obvious info in your first post above. I didn't see it and it went right over my head.

My BBmaps loads but shows only the diagonal lines, gps is fine and picks up satellites.
Im not on data plan, Im using Orange (UK) on 8820, desktop manager V4.3, wireless handheld v4.2.2.124.
It's bad enough not getting email but no mapping either is a real let down.
Is there a fix? Am I missing something?

Im pretty sure you need a data plan to do this otherwise where is the data coming from to fill the map. Map data is downloaded real time and not stored on the phone

Yes, a data plan is REQUIRED for Maps on the BB. No data plan...no maps.
