Default Network conflict

Please Login to Remove!

Hi guys. I've just unlocked my pearl 8100. I had at&t and then i switched to t-mobile. The phone works once in a while but when I lose a signal, my phone searches for the at&t network and I get a SOS error and i have to take the battery out and put it back in and wait. I've went to the mobile network settings and delted all the at&t networks from my preferred network list and set the detection method to manual. But i'm still getting SOS errors and when i go back to the mobile network settings it is back at at&t. I've already reset my blackberry, hard and soft, but the only thing that fix was showing my number in the phone screen. I think it is a software issue, so I went to t-mobile's site and downloaded their lastest software for the 8100, but all that did was put "t-zones" on my phone. I've been browsing through this forum and see alot about this vendor.(something) file and I think that it maybe the cause. I was wondering how I could delete that file from my phone, and delete everything at&t related, and do a fresh install of t-mobile's software if that is at all possible.

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the BBF!

Delete the vendor.xml file located in c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader. You don't delete it from the phone, but from your PC, AFTER the new OS has been loaded to and installed to your PC.

That file (and the OS you load to the BB) have nothing to do with the network signal you will receive to the device. That is determined by the available signal in your area, and SIM card you have.

Thanks for the reply.

When i delete the vendor.xml file and install the OS, will my phone strictly be T-mobile. By that I mean, will it be a "my favs" phone and will the annoying at&t screen vanish?

The annoying AT&T screen will never vanish. It is there for the life of it. No OS can replace that. Ignore it.
