hi, I have a blackberry bold 9700 and some time ago, my stupid friend put in my password 10 times wrong just to see what happens, it got formatted, but luckily i could restore settings using backup file. But since then, my password tries keep bugging at 4/10 or 5/10 and it gets stuck until i remove the battery and it wipes again. this happened 4 times and its getting very frustrating because i hate restoring every week. When i say it bugs i mean that my password for example used to be "aasdf" so i do not forget it, but sometimes if im in a hurry, i put the password in wrong and it bugs at 4/10 and even if i put in a wrong password, it stays 4/10 tries left, and it stays until i remove battery.

is there a way i can fix that?

by the way, the only reason i put a password is that my phone doesnt pocket dial..

like, the number of tries get stuck at 4/10, and even when i enter the password again (even if it was wrong) it stays 4/10 tries

So, you are saying on the first try you accidently enter the password wrong and the BlackBerry goes straight to 4/10 and you can't even enter the correct password at that point?

Does this problem happen all the time, or just sometimes?

EDIT: I'm thinking moisture damage, or at least moisture, causing keypad issues.

I type in the wrong password 1 or 2 times, the third time, I make sure i enter it correctly (its a simple password "aasdf") but it says wrong password and it then gets stuck at 4/10, and at that point, what ever i type in, it stays at 4/10 tries, even if I type in the right password, I even tried typing random words to see if its really stuck, but it stays 4/10 and there is nothing I can do... sometimes it goes on to 5/10 or 6/10 and it gets stuck at those tries....

And also, if it gets to 6/10, it gets stuck at "type the word 'blackberry' to continue"...

I agree, it sounds like moisture damage on the keys. Depending on your ability you may be able to replace the keyboard.
