the tiny QWERTY on my 8900 takes a while to get use to. i found i really need to remember to use the tips of my thumbs to type. when i try to type flat thumbed i tend to type a lot of errors. second, i'm still typing as it were a SURETYPE pressing the O for P and A for S and vice versa. lastly, i miss being able to type without looking at the keys on my pearl. i can't do that on my new curve, thanks good for vLingo as i can "talk to text" as i drive.

That's what I am worried about if I switch from my 8110 to a full QWERTY device like the 8900 or whatever similar device AT&T plans on releasing.

I played with 83xx series devices in the past in the past and recently played with an 8900 in the T-Mobile store. Killer device and feels great in the hands, but the keys are so tiny and my fingers are not that big. Well, I guess I can always test the device out during the "trial" period and take it from there.

I stick both hands on the keyboard and type 100 miles a minute without any mistakes.

Just give it a little time buddy..you'll get with it.

My recommendation is to install and use an instant messenger app of your choice...and use that instead of contacting friends via a pc.

You'll be typing like a pro in no time.

I missed SureType for a day or two. Now I prefer the full QWERTY. I remember when I first got my Pearl, I hated SureType. But after a couple of weeks I really liked it. Now I don't miss it at all.

I could type a lot faster with Suretype on my 8100 than my new 8900, and I do find the keys closer together than my wife's 8320 so I make more errors typing now, but it's coming along. The 8320 keys are flat on top, the 8900's are angled to the outside (presumably to help catch your thumbs). I am trying to not cross the midline with my thumbs as recommended by iPhone typists. That takes practice.

I gotta say - if they would add in the option to complete text like on the Pearls as you type on these full keypads, it really would make my life a lot easier. I'm used to it now for the most part, but the keys are slightly on the small side (and I dont have chubby fingers or anything). i dont understand why they wouldn't allow you to have that feature just because you have a full keyboard.

I agree, predictive text would be a nice feature.

I don't think any of the full QWERTY blackberrys have it.

+1 the keys are awfully close together.

I feel the pain of the OP. I've had my 8900 for five days and am still adjusting to the small keys (versus the 8100). I figure that I will be rockin this new 8900 and it's full keyboard in about another week.
