Default BES with Desktop Manager

Please Login to Remove!

Hello.
I am a BES administrator from some months.
I am experiencing the problem discussed here blackberryforums.pinstack.com / showthread.php?t=32311 with only one blackberry, the one that has Desktop Manager installed on the user pc to synchronize Blackberry with the Outlook file, located on the pc.
I contacted some days ago the support of our mobile provider, about the "Transaction error. Bad format message".
They told me that DM, if used together with a BES, give these problems. And that is commonly suggested to not use DM in a BES environment.
But, if I'm not wrong, the only way to synchronize a Blackberry with a pst file from Outlook is to use DM.
Is really wrong to use DM and BES together?
I have other options to synchronize?
Thank you in advance.

Hi Alessandro,
Personally I'd not recommend using BES and Desktop Manager together, theres no real need to and just gives the user to many ways to mess the BlackBerry up!!
Aslong as you've set your blackberry to wirelessly sync your contacts, calander, tasks etc then everything should come across, I'm currently using outlook 2007, exchange 2003 and BES 4.1 and everything works perfectly.

I also want to add that is not a great idea to sync the BB with a PST, it may became a nightmare support users that do that

Seconded, I'd stick syncronising the mailbox on your exchange server.

Thank you all for the help.
I'm going to study how to manage the blackberry users with a new configuration.
Unfortunately I have not a Blackberry, so I will have to ask for their to make the tests...
Cheers

Alessandro
