Default BES Admin account questions

Please Login to Remove!

Hi all,

I plan to add an additional BES server to our infrastructure to go in with some of our new exchange boxes. We have an existing BES server with besadmin account setup that works perfectly.

Unfortunately the password for this was never saved by the people who originally built the server.

Will the password be needed for the besadmin service account during the new install? Also if it does, any ideas if resetting the password for it will have any effect on the current BES server and associated handhelds?

Cheers,

Andy

reset the password, this will effect the current server in that you will have to go into it and change the password to the new one but other than that it should be fine

make sure after you change the password you check the windows services and make sure the blackberry services are still running, you may have to go into each service and change the password, doubtful but possible.

shouldnt affect the handhelds but i am not positive. can anyone else shed some light on this?

When you install the new BES you should logon as the BESAdmin account ... so you'll need the password. Reset the password and then logon to the current BES Server(s) and change the password for each of the BlackBerry services set to run as DOMAIN\BESAdmin ... and then restart each service.
