How much space do you have in your BB?
Please Login to Remove!
Well I have around 9MB left in my BB and I'm wondering if that is considered very less left. I only installed Ramble and Opera Mini so I'm concerned if I really should have more available free space. Do most of your phones have around that much or do I really need to look into deleting some things.

Yes, that is pretty low. I have a little over 19mb and I've seen a lot of people on here that have over 25mb of free space. Do you have a lot of pictures? Also hold the ALT key and press the ESC key to see how many programs you currently have open.

Wirelessly posted (Opera/8.01 (J2ME/MIDP; Opera Mini/3.0.6306/1558; en; U; ssr))
I usually hover in and around 12-13 megs. After pulling the battery, I can get as much as 16.

I have between 42 and 43 MB free. I deleted BB Maps, BB Messenger, Push-to-Talk, and Birckbreaker, but I installed Googletalk, spider solitaire, freecell, klondike, bombsweeper, hearts, Google Maps, BBWeather, BBCorrector, Opera Mini, RSA Secure Token, and Radiobee, and QuickPlayer.
I deleted the preloaded pictures and video, and the preinstalled themes I don't use. I reduced the allocated space for pictures to 0 MB. I originally deleted the preloaded ringtones, but I put them back because I use a few of the notifiers.
I also deleted support for all languages other than English. Despite what some people say, you can't delete all of the language files through the apploader or on the device at options>>advanced>>applications. You have to delete or rename the .cod files in the java folder.

May be a dumb question but where is the esc key. I haven't turned off or resetted my phone for at least 3 days. Will resetting it really free up more space?

Actually it might do... it does take a while for a blackberry pearl to login, maybe it does a mini de-frag?? or something??

The esc key is the one that is directly to the right of the trackball.

16 megs shouldn't hurt. Mine is a little over 19 megs. Just make sure you have a micro sd card for your music, pictures and whatnot.

Can one install programs onto the micro-SD memory card and then call them into memory (and then let them go after using) only as needed? When downloading programs, is there an option to do that?

How does one find out how much memory is left? I went through the Advanced Options list and it did not appear to have a way to find this.

Thanks! Just checked it, I have about 13 MB left, from 65 MB total. Since I have not downloaded any programs from outside sources and just run "native" BB Pearl software, I wonder why I have so little memory left. I have, however, loaded my media card with mp3 and more than 150 jpeg. Does that absorb any of the main memory? Does the main memory keep a "registry" of what is on the media card that takes away from what is available? Do unread messages sitting on the server but visible on my machine also take memory?
Thanks for any answer!

I took out all the (about 120) MP3 from my card and shut off the BB, turned it on again, re-tested memory....it went DOWN by a few kilobytes, to 12.7 MB. So, registry of items in the media card does not make a difference....now to eliminate all language support except English USA...we'll find out.
By the way, do all the contacts also make a difference or are they kept on the Enterprise Server?
Also, I have still not found a way to access text files from the memory card...

Did you just turn it off? I tied that too and found out that you have to take the BATTERY out then put it back in.

I can personally verify that you must pull the battery. I had 11 megs free, and powered the device down. Powered it back on - 11 megs free.
I took out and replaced the battery, and I had 19 megs free.

I have 36 megs left and thats with 14 add on programs installed (3 IM's counting OZ, Gmail, Google Maps, BBspell, RDM, and a bunch of games). Of course they are not all running the 36 megs is with just normal BB stuff running and none of the above running.
I deleted all the languages, brickbreaker, password keeper, video file and anything else I didnt think I would need.
Also press and hold ALT then press LGLG and delete the hidden log files. You can uncheck everything to turn them off and this saves a couple megs usually.
I also dont save anything to the internal memory if I have a choice. It all goes to the 2gig MicroSD card.
I have found that almost everything done under the MEDIA section like using the video player, taking and sending a lot of pics sucks up memory and keeps it.
This can only be recovered by a battery pull like others have mentioned. Turning it off and on will not recover all of it. If I dont use the Media stuff I never lose much memory but if I watch a lot of videos the memory disapears.
