Default Torch touch-number pad plus sign

I hope a question with a simple answer...
The on-screen number pad that comes up with the phone function has a "+" sign on the same "tile" as the 0.
How do I get to the + sign so I can start an international number? Extended touch (hold), and double-tap don't work. Same applies to the "voicemail" function on the 1 key/tile.

Well that is just odd. Have you tried just putting "00" before the country code? That's how the network switches know that the call is international anyway (+ translates to 00).

For example, keying 0044 will dial a UK number the same as +44.

Yes, just using 00 is OK, but some countries do not use this convention so that is why + is better; the carrier takes care of translating to the correct international refix.
If I use the slide out keypad, and press "o", I get the + and it works.
It's just that there is a + on the 0 key on the on-screen keypad, but it seems impossible to get it to work.
May not seem a big issue, but when you live within a few minutes of 3 countries you always use the prefix else you might not get through!

I completely understand, but I have yet to visit a country where 00 didn't work in a pinch, including places in the third-world. In fact, I've been to some countries where 00 was the only thing that worked.

Anyway, I checked a mate of mine's device and holding 0 gets a + on his 9800, so it seems to be an issue with your handset. Have you tried pulling the battery recently? Also have you updated your software recently?

HA, impatience is your enemy (well mine anyway).
So following your info that "hold" works, I tried again... for a long time... and it worked. Nearly 3s.
Same for voice mail.
Battery pulled fairly frequenty, but software update long overdue; its a company phone and the policy does not make this easy. But maybe now I'll try and see if an update sets the time a bit shorter.

Thanks!

Yeah, 2-3s is normal for holding a key... Glad it's working out for you.

I had a question regarding the touch pad not working for selecting and dialing address book entries post 2647 OS update. I have done the battery pull several times. Is this a known problem with the new OS. I have no 3rd party apps added as this is on a BES server.

You should have opened your own thread. It is impolite to post unrelated questions in another user's thread.
