Default problems setting up 9780

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,

I have just got a new 9780 which isn't tied to any network.

I've put my 3uk sim card in it, and I can't access any internet services.

I've checked my profile with 3 and it is definitely set up for blackberry at the network end (I work for them, and I've seen the network tools!)

When I try to use the internet, I get the message saying cellular browsing's not allow, use wifi or upgrade my plan.

When I go to (www 3uk blackberry com cant post url's yet!) to register, it directs me to host routing on my phone.I do this and I get a message saying this is complete, but nothing happens and when I try again on the above site, the same thing happens.

When I try to set up email, I only have the option for enterprise account. Nowhere to set up a personal account.

Any help here would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers

You need a BB data plan from your carrier. Are you sure that the device unlocked?

If, as you say, that is activated, then you need to register using the host routing table, and/or have the carrier resend the service books.

However, it doesn't sound to me like the BB plan is set up properly, nor is it unlocked.

there's definitely a BB plan in place (as I said I've seen the network data)and the device is def. unlocked (phone side of things is working perfectly)

the host routing table message sends from the phone, but nothing happens after that and when i try to sign in to reg. online it directs me back to the phone

service books.... thats a new one.... whats that?

(you'd think after 11 years in the phone game nothing would stump me!)

and thanks for the reply

Was it working previously? Did you drop it or get it wet?

Sounds like you need to ring your carrier and make sure the BB plan is provisioned and ask them to resend the service books. I have heard that with UK carriers, it can take a few days before everything is activated.

What is a service book? What is a host routing table? | BBGeeks

would the service books be the same as OTA settings for mms etc on a normal phone?
if so, i've already sent them as well twice, nothing coming through
