So, Today I traded my MyTouch 3G (horrible decision to ever get that phone.) for a new Tour 9630, so far I love it, I kind of see it as a remixed version of the Bold 9000 that I have, but that's just me.

I have a few little issues with this Tour, now all of these things have been addressed before, but I'm trying to get some advice on how I should go about handling all of this.

1. I'm not getting all of the service books I need for BrowserConfig, and MMSConfig settings, I'm guessing my best approach would be to load generic T-Mobile service books through Desktop Manager?

2. The device also has the remnants of an IT Policy on it, so I can't get any data, even if I did have the service books. ("x application is attempting to establish a connection inside and outside of the firewall, which is not allowed by your IT policy") - I'm guessing using the "resettofactory" option of JL_Cmnder would be my (only?) route at getting rid of this?

I do apologise for coming across as a bit of a noob, but due to the fact that I've always used Mac DM, and never even needed JL_Cmnder makes this a bit intimidating (even more so then taking apart my Bold) because I want to be sure I do this properly.

Thanks for any feedback.

Welcome to BBF.

I assume this is an unlocked/used BB? I suggest a read of the FAQ for more info on getting rid of an IT policy. Remove IT Policy - BlackBerryFAQ

And do you have a BB dataplan? And has the device been properly activated on TMO? That will get you the proper service books.

I would remove the IT Policy first, with the power on pull the battery for about 30 seconds reinsert and let it reboot and then resend service books.
