Default T-Mobile 3G User Experience

I don't know what 3g capable BBs tmobile carries. So I thought I post this here anyhow...

So has anybody experienced the TMO 3g network, especially in the SoCal area? If so what speeds do you get? Is the coverage very spotty? What effect did it have on your battery life? Overall, were you happy with it?

I guess you can tell I'm preparing for the Onyx...

Crap..... still? Well I guess there ain't too many of them out there. Beside the Storm and the Bold I don't believe any of the others are 3g capable.

So is the TMO 3g a totally unknown quantity or does anybody have any experience with it.... on any phone.

And the Bold doesn't work on T-Mobile's 3G network.

The Storm, 8830 and 8330 all work on CDMA carrier's 3G Networks.

I used a g1 for a little while. 3g coverage has never been a problem with that phone. So I will be happy when a blackberry gets released for it. Though to be honest. I am happy with 2g speeds even when I tether.

If you are interested in general TMO 3G experience, you may want to visit a general phone forum such as Howard Forums where the topic is being discussed. HoFo has a TMO forum including a subforum dedicated to TMO coverage where there are several strings discussing 3G coverage. HowardForums: Your Mobile Phone Community & Resource - General Coverage Discussion

T-Mo uses a different 3G freq band than other GSM devices, hence 3G phones for them must be manufactured with that radio. And you won't be able to use a 3G T-Mo device on any other 3G network.
