Default Defining custom searches?

I got the following from a shortcut listing:
Note: You can define custom searches and assign them to hotkeys... so
you could have ALT+J showing all emails from John Smith or something
like that.

1) Anyone know how to assign things to hot keys?
2) Can above concept be applied to do a hot key 'view folder'?

hmmm... sounds like it may have come from one of my old posts. It works like this:

1) Open Search
2) Enter the search terms (i.e. Name... in what address field, etc)
3) Click the TrackWheel and select Save
4) Give your search a title...
5) Select your Shortcut Key...
6) Click and Select Save

Ok, for viewing folders...

Instead of typing the name you want to search for (from step 2), leave Name blank and Scroll down to Folder ... click and select the folder you want to view... then follow the rest of the steps (3-6).

That answer your question?

Default oops...

Oops... a quick correction...

If you have firmware version 3.8+ you have to open messages then click and select Search... the search from the mainscreen doesn't seem to allow saving.
