Default bes express password policy

Please Login to Remove!

I setup a password policy under Bes express 5.0.2.

Once I have pushed it to the device, I am prompted on the deivce for a new password. I enter it and all is good.

The problem is when I manually lock the device and unlock it a minute later it doesn't ask me for a password it just unlocks the device. Is there anyway to set this it will prompt me for the password?

I have tried this with a bold 9000 and 9780 both do exactly the same thing when I push the lock/unlock button.

It kind of defeats the purpose of locking your device with the button if someone steals your phone they can easy access your personal data...talk about security!

the lock feature by that button was a glitch, use the lock app to lock it or a keyboard short cut K

Are you locking the keypad by holding the mute button in, or selecting the lock icon on the device?

They doesn't lock the device, it just locks the keypad to prevent pocket/butt dialing.

I just confirmed on the 9780 the user is press the lock button on the top. I was testing it with the 9000 which only has the mute button.

When the device isn't using the IT password policy and the user sets up his own password; after he presses the lock button and presses it again the device asks him for his password. It just doesn't behave the same under Bes Express 5.0.2, any ideas?

I haven't used the9780, but as per Knottyrope's suggestion above, there is a glitch with the lock button on the device. Use his workaround.

I wonder if the glitch is hardware or software related?

The 9780 in question has OS 6.0.0.448 installed. Rogers (the carrier) has 6.0.0.666 for the 9780.

Is this really a bug? From the 9780 user guide:

Quote:
Lock your device

Do one of the following:

• To lock your BlackBerry device, if you have set a device password, on the Home screen or in a folder, click the Password
Lock icon.

• To lock the keyboard, press the key on the top left of your device.

To unlock your device, type your device password. Press the Enter key. To unlock the keyboard, press the key again.
So there are two kind of locks: Keyboard lock and Device lock. Keyboard lock is done with the key on top of the device, Device lock is done with the lock icon on the home screen.

That's what I thought as well, but his post stating it worked with a password made me think otherwise.
