Hi,
I am a PHP developer, but need to develop a small app in Java for use on the blackberry.
I have downloaded the RIM SDK / IDE and have been able to get a basic app up and running. The problem occurs when I try and get my app to launch the Blackberry web browser and go to a URL. I am trying to do it like this:
Code:
public MyApp() {
BrowserSession browser = Browser.getDefaultSession();
browser.displayPage("[link]");
}
(*[link] is a fully qualified url, but this forum won't let me post with a url in it.)
with this method being within a class called MyApp which extends UiApplication.
When run on a BlackBerry 8220 simulator, the app seems to load the blackberry browser, but the progress bar down the bottom says 'requesting' but the webpag never loads. If I manually open the browser and enter the same URL it loads ok.
We haven't yet got the classes signed which would be required for net.rim.blackberry.api.browser which we use, but I don't know if this matters because before we try and load it onto a real device, not just a simulator. Was hoping to not spend on signing untill I can see the app working.
Am I doing it completely wrong?
Any help would be much appriciated.
Regards,
Robin
