It depends on you, and what you like. I can't compare specifications for you, but I've never cared for the Curves. I do like the 9700's.

For what it's worth, there have been a number of complaints on the forum about the keypad on the 9780 typing multiple entries for a character when a key is pressed, and maybe some other keypad errors as well. Seems there is something to it. If you do get a 9780 and you have the problem, know it isn't you, and seek and exchange.

Sure, I've compared the specs. I rely on the BB for email, SMS, MMS, UMA, wiFi and browsing. Do not use for music. Was hoping for a better browsing experience, faster processor etc.

camera is nice on the 9780 with a flash. not sure you if you will love the browser experience. I really like the keyboard feel on mine. never used a curve. there are some things I disliked with OS6 but I found a theme that fixed that issue. miss the column view in the browser although that was not always an answer for good browsing anyway. My kids android totally kicks on that aspect. The only thing I can say about processor speed is that it is way faster then my old tour to deal a game of klondike. other then that not sure how you can compare or judge it.

Won't get much better browsing on a BB until we get a faster processor, more memory and better connections.

Whatever you get, make sure that it is a T-Mobile device as they no longer use the same 3G frequencies that AT&T and other carriers use for 3G. AT&T devices on T-mo are EDGE only.

Chosing between the two you listed, I would go for the 9780. But the choice is yours to make, not mine.

Thanks for your responses. My wife has an android which is impressive in all areas so I'm trying to resist the urge to cross to android which would cost me more monthly. I got in on a BB plan years ago; 59.99 per month, 1000 minutes, unlimited data and sms. Hate to give that up. Going to look seriously at the 9780.

btw, the facebook app is available @ Blackberry app world. Still needs some work in my opinion.

Thanks

I have the 9700 but I used to have the 8520. The curve has a better keyboard in my opinion and it has the awesome media keys at the top! But at the end of the day I think I would choose the 9780 for the better camera.

I would go for the 9780 honestly. The curves are more of an entry device and probably 50$ - 100$ more you can get a more high end device with much higher specs.

I bought a 9780 yesterday and the build quality was very poor - it had the dreaded gap down the right hand side of the screen and you could see the circuit board. I also had a 9700 and was not impressed with how it lasted either. I have an 8530 for a company phone and it is actually better made than the 9700/9780 - it has less 'bits' that make up the case and I think represents a new design standard for BB. I'm going to go for a 9300. I know it's not got as good a screen but I have an iPhone too for browsing.
