Default How do i get into a Blackberry 8110 with password protection

Please Login to Remove!

Hi, New on here. I`ve been given a 8110 however the old owner has password protected the front screen and i cannot get into the phone without knowing the password. Is there a work around on that?
Many many thanks.

Ask the old owner.

No.

Press the wrong password 10 times and wipe the handheld.

It will happen automatically. It will also wipe everything else personal on the device, and set it back to factory specs. Asking your friend for the password seems like the better route, if in fact the friend is willing to give it to you.

What a wonderful friend to give you a new toy without a key to use it huh?

Forgive the skepticism, but most of the time when someone says they got a free bb from a friend and it's pw protected, it means stolen. I hope that's not the case here, and hope you get it working and enjoy your bb!

Thanks for the response, one more question if i may, if i swap over sims will my all my applications migrate over to the new phone? I`m on vodafone and have the satnav stuff which i dont want to lose. Is there any danger taking a sim out of my current 8110 and putting it in a new phone and then putting it back in my current one? Could i lose any info/apps?
Thanks

No. Use the BlackBerry Desktop Manager "swap handheld" feature to move applications over.
DEPENDING on the applications, this may still not work. If you have something licensed to a specific device PIN, you will need to talk to the supplier to see if you can re-register it.

You won't lose apps. But obviously data can't go to a phone with no data connection. So, if you take SIM from BB_A and put it into BB_B, and BB_B receives calls/texts/emails while it is active, those will NOT appear on BB_A when you swap the SIM back. They will stay on BB_B.

Hmmm, maybe, maybe not.
If you do not want any of your friend's data, just get the password wrong enough times and wipe the device, and go from clean.
