One thing you should check is if you can play music or the ring tone by itself. I have found that when the ringer is not working, I cannot play music either. I receive an error message that the player has encountered an error.

As I understand it, the music player is used to play your ring tone, which is why I was checking the music player.

Also, I am looking into an app (drivesafe.ly) that I have installed to see if it is compatible with 5.0.x. It has been behaving in a strange way since the upgrade (turning itself on and off - launch the app GUI randomly, etc.). I may uninstall it to see if that resolves the issue. I will post when I have a couple days to let you all know what happens.
