If you don't know your password, you will not get in. Make sure you don't have caps lock or num lock on. Maybe try removing the battery for a minute. That would clear any potential caps/num lock issues.
Otherwise, if you enter the incorrect password 10 times it will wipe everything from the phone.
Also, I don't want to come off sounding accusatory, but we get posts like this pretty frequently of others trying to get access to someone else's device, if this is the case, don't try it because you will wipe all of their data including but not limited to email, pictures, texts, call logs, etc.
