Unhappy Email Question

Hey guys I have done a search of this and cant find answer can anyone help.

Im in Canada, and on the rogers network and currently am using the BB 8310curve. Love the phone great device. I am using BIS with personal email.

I use mostly gmail on my berry and am having trouoble with the status report. I selected confirm delivery and confirm read. But i rarely get a report. the only time i have gotten a report back and it was only the delevired report was when i sent an email using my gamil addy to my buddies blackberry, to his gmail addy.

Am I doing something wrong, certain setting? I have played around with it? cant figure it out? please help. i find it to be a uselful feature!!!!
