I think a lot of glitchy trackpads are due to poor connections at the ribbon cable connector. I would just use a tiny dab of dielectric silicone on the contacts, reconnect and test.

New trackpads are only $20 thru amazon.com and amazon.com/bb (blackberry app OTA download)

Toolkits are $4 thru amazon too
