I have noticed since I am using the swivel case that came with it I have not had issues. I think the small little particles in our pockets/purses whatever is getting behind the tracball and causing the issue. Mine was bad one day on a previous one and I blew some compressed air into it and seemed to fix it for awhile.

I have the trackball issue and I've kept it in the case whenever I have carried it.
