Have you tried this:
http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...-t-mobile.html I know it is for the Storm, but it helps AT&T users with a Storm to go from lower edge to EDGE or in your case 3G (if it has AT&T 3G data freq.). Please let me know if this works.
