Well i just bought a 8900 ... unlocked device ... new out of the box so i dont think it was ever connected to any kind of BES ...

Im using Airtel India as the carrier... i managed to download and install applications like Facebook, gtalk, nimbuzz and twitterberry ... now the problem started... even though i have gprs (egde) activated and have a Wifi connection at home ... i cant seen to log on to any of the applications mentioned above.. i mean these applications cannot access the internet...

so what i wanted to ask was that is it mandatory that i have BIS activated for these applications to work or can i access the net through Wifi or/ and gprs ..??

i even went into Options --> Security --> Application Permisssions --> and edited the general permissions to allow all kinds of network activity and the firewall is disabled...

Since im a first time BB user id like to know if im doing something wrong... Kindly help me if u can ...
