Well as a strange postscript - I was having these tethering problems in the Bay Area (Redwood City, and again at SFO before I flew home to L.A.). I was convinced my phone was messed up and was just about to upgrade the OS as a last resort when I figured I'd try it from home first - and it worked fine. I was tethered for 55 solid minutes at pretty decent speed before it disconnected due to a random Bold reboot. So I guess the Bay Area must have weak EDGE coverage or something. I wonder if anyone else in that area has had that problem?
