Simply put, I think that the BB BT radio is week. My first 8700C dropped (and picked up calls) all the time. My second did not, or at least not as frequently, then alas I dropped it and it lost the speakers. My third is back to the drop and pick up. And I have tried it with several different BT headsets, and it does it to various degrees. It got to such a point that I am using my BB strictly for data, and use a V3i for voice. Shame.
