The "some sort of DB" that you speak of is comprised of many BBThumbs.dat files all over the media card, one for each folder. Look at my original post, I have deleted all of those. Also, the device has been rebooted twice or three times since then, and the problem remains. And it only affects a certain group of folders that I recorded from Flash streaming, not the albums that I ripped from CDs.
