When you get a request, you have the option to accept or ignore. If you ignore the request then the option to remove the contact from the ignore list will be presented to you in the Options menu (and a dialog box informing you of this will be displayed when you actually ignore the contact request).
If you already have the contact on your list then you can only remove them from the list (delete) you cannot ignore them.
