However, when someone calls from a real noisy place (professional sporting event, concert, etc...) it is annoying.

I really notice it because my office voicemail notifies me when I have a new message. The automated voice is usually nice and load when I answer the call. It does seem to be a bit shorter in duration now, but still very noticeable.
