It gave me the same error...I noticed when installing on another users BB, it sent a activation email. My BB doesn't do that after the install...just asked to be rebooted. Not the others...

You can post the first 8 numbers of the sim card and it will tell you what carrier. If it is Black, most likely it is Verizon.
