I have the same problem and all you can do is to keep moving your thumb on the trackpad until the cursor starts moving again.

My own Torch freezes all the time and the Pad which moves the curser freezes too, and I've tried to reboot it by taking the battery out, waiting for like 10-20 seconds then put the battery back in...

The OS on my BB torch doesnt work well because I think it's either too many apps or the phone itself is just slow and it freezes sometimes, so all I can do is reboot the phone but it still doesnt work
