Also the 4.5.0.162 has an older Software Platform version than the 4.5.0.161 (2.7.0.105 vs 2.7.0.103 vs 2.7.0.92)....

I don't think so, the camera its on a different place on the 8110. I think its better to buy a full housing for your 8100, it costs like $30 or less.

Check for the 'BlackBerry Attachment Service' with the desktop manager maybe you didn't check it.
