I don't think you can read/write to the fone...

I don't think you can read/write to the fone without a mem microsd card installed.

Taking the mem card out is a pita; I would just enable mass storage support and drag/drop files through explorer....

Yes, you will need to add the Blackberry data plan to use MMS/Web/E-mail. I have AT&T so it was $5 more a month, which isn't to bad. I think the plan is $30 for AT&T.
