I have been running it for a few days now and the Slingplayer has been working fine.
I am using Player version.13. You might want to make sure your are using it and not an older version too.

You will get the warning with the Classic box but...

You will get the warning with the Classic box but that you can disregard. I get the same with my Solo. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. If you do get the error message from my experience...

Looks like it depends on what Slingbox you have....

Looks like it depends on what Slingbox you have. I tried it on my Pro HD and it worked fine. Not so on my Solo. See here...
