Gmail - is forwarding or filtering mail better??

This is just a really quick question and yes I have searched and read about a million posts...

Is setting up a filter to forward your mail to the mycingular.blackberry.net address better than setting up a straight forward your mail? I have always done a straight forward (under forward/pop settings in gmail), but I was wondering what the main benefit of having just a filter set up to forward mail.

Can anyone tell my the brief pros-cons?

THX much!

With my corporate it did not make a difference. It was delayed.

G-Mail runs virtually instantaneously and I prefer as few links as possible because it will minimize the chance of problems.

Don't forward anything.

Setup your GMail account in BIS. It's better this way.

Well, I was thinking of doing that now that Gmail is almost instantaneous...I hadn't done it before due to the polling issue.

Here's the long post:

I have xxx.net forwarding to gmail then gmail forwarding to mycingular.blackberry.net. No issues with this set up, but it seems long and drawn out. I love the gmail interface, so I do want to keep mail going through it.

If I just do BIS I was concerned about reply-to problems, b/c I would want the reply to to be xxx.net. Then as I understand I would have to make a filter so gmail won't bounce back to me. If I do this, wouldn't I have to change the name/settings/reply to in gmail as well??

I'm so confused!!!

You can reply to email sent to your Gmail account on the BB. The FROM address will be your GMail address.

You will receive email from your sbcglobal.net on the BB but reply from GMail and change the FROM to your sbcglobal.net address.

Ahhh okay...so if I go into gmail and change the reply to xxx.net - then I can reply to xxx.net mail from the bb and the reply to will show xxx.net?

The only way you can send mail from your BB using you sbcglobal.net address is to setup that email account in BIS.

Since you want to doing everything thru GMail I'm referring to Gmail: Help Center - How do I change my xxx39;From:xxx39; address when composing a message?
