I don't think the 8800 is capable of handling anything over 2 gigs.

Pizzle 05-09-2007 09:14 PM

Correct. That's why you're having issues. The card is not compatible with the device.

hf1khal 05-09-2007 09:21 PM

The 8300 seems to be compatible with the 4 or any size over it (based on the phone sccop info) I hope may be a new 8800 OS release will support it.

Connect it directly to the PC and reformat it from there. What I mean by directly, is by getting a USB adapter and and conecting to the PC's USB port.

I'm sure this card will work in the near future.. you should hold on to it as it probably will be an os update just like the original pearl from 1gb to 2gb....

I have placed micro sd cards in digi camera and formatted them to trick phones and it has worked

Yes that is the best way! Once it's connected go to Start and select My Computer, then right mouse click on the microsd card drive and select Format... Do a full format and not quick

phonescoop lists the 8300 as supporting 4gb microSD cards, if it does have an OS update to enable SDHC support will we be able to install that OS on the 8800? Has it been possible in the past to install an OS from a different model BB?

You can't port an existing OS for a different handheld. But, with the release of the 8300, a 4.2.2 version of the 8800 OS will probably follow in the next few months.

Just out of curiosity... but why would you need 4 gigs of space? To my own ignorance, I thought that it was just for media?

Please correct me if I am wrong.

I have a 2 GB card and have filled it up with videos, songs, and data. I could go for another 2Gb.

LunkHead 05-14-2007 04:37 PM

I have nothing on mine (I am boring I guess) But it would not take long to fill 2gb up with songs and video...

Uhh... and why would anyone need a 60GB iPod?

Yes, it is just for media. Some people like to carry a lot of media with them. :D
