Serial/USB communication with dekstop
Hi everybody,
Im a layman blackberry developer and wants to develop a simple application which transfers some data to & fro the dektop & the RIM device via data cable using either serial port or USB port or even InfraRed. Can anybody suggest me any technically- feasible solution/approach to acheive the same. Please note that: I dont want to use BES/MDS and not even Intellisync tool provided with Desktop Manager. I've gone through the sample demo codes like usbdemo, serialportdemo. However, I want some more input on the same issue. Earlier reply is much appretiable. -Abhi. |
I know that the GTPhoto people succeeded on that (standalone 3rd party PC program connecting to 3rd party BlackBerry program over USB). So USB communications are definitely possible.
Other than that, I don't have further details. |
Hi Mark & all,
Thanx a lot, for ur quickest reply as usual. However, I've further query regarding the sample USBClient sample desktop application supplied by RIM. In it, BBDevMgr.exe application is imported, so I think, the desktop application is as per the RIM specifications. My query is that Cannot I right the C/C++ desktop application using standard serial I/O APIs like CreateFile() to open serial port. Or should I follow the same strategy as given in this sample desktop application? Simply, which programming approach will be more possibly effective in RIM development. Once again thanx in advance for reply. -Abhi. |
