Call Blocking Password
I opened Call Blocking in the Phone Setup menu and, seeing a box for password, began to put in my BB password, which was a big mistake. The passwords for Call Blocking are all numerals, and my BB password is letters. So the password was not accepted, and unknown to me, the first time a person uses Call Blocking, the password box takes the numerals put in as the new password, and stores it somewhere (I think on the web) and it did that for me. The problem is, I don't know what that new password is, as attempting to put in my BB password does not work. And now I have no idea how to find out what my Call Blocking password is so that I can use Call Blocking. I tried resetting my BB to Factory Settings and reinstalling an old backup, but that didn't work because as I said, I think Call Blocking passwords are stored on the web. Does anybody have any idea how to change a Call Blocking password if they don't have the original password?

Re: Call Blocking Password
Based on my phones and the response I received, it seems the feature is a carrier feature and the password may be something they need to remove.
In looking further on BlackberryWorld, I see call blocking Apps that may work also. Depending on what you have it may be worth checking. |
Re: Call Blocking Password
Thanks Tsac. It's really something I'll never use, so no need for a new app. I'd just like to sort out why I can't change the password on the resident app. There seems to be no way if you don't have the original password.

Re: Call Blocking Password
Looking on the web I see that many others have had the same problem. I contacted Bell (my carrier), and despite the fact that they have BB Call Blocking instructions on their support website, the technician I spoke to had no clue and after consulting Level 3, told me to contact Blackberry. That's exactly what happened to many others. I guess this is a dead end.

Re: Call Blocking Password
I would say the are just acting clueless to avoid further problems. Not sure how many carriers offer the service and how many have support for the feature. I called ATT and they were clueless but did acknowledge it is a service. their service is called "call protect"
It has limits and will not block calls from unknown numbers. to me that makes the service useless. |

I agree 100%
