Verizon 9930 Bold - Call Waiting Glitch
 
Hello All,



I support around 250 blackberry users, around 50 of the users are reporting a call waiting glitch.

After about 10 RMAs with Verizon, the problem is still there with these same users. Can't see how this could be a cellular carrier issue since the audio on the phone stops working.



This is not just limited to audio while on the call but also there is no audio while dialing the number, no audio during the ringtone while the call connects and no audio on the other line after the call is connected.



How to see the issue



Scenario #1:

When on a call, another call comes in and it goes to voice mail. After hanging up the original call, a call is made to retrieve the voicemail, there is no audio on the internal or external speaker.



Scenario #2:

When on a call, another call comes in, you take the call and place the original call on HOLD. After dropping the second call, the original call drops. After this, headset speaker and speakerphone stops functioning.



Solution

Battery pull / hard reset resolves the issue temporarily. The downside to this is that the blackberry takes at least 3-5 minutes to turn back on and get back on the network.



There aren't any firmware updates available from Verizon to fix the issues.



Anyone else have same issue with their Bold?

This is the only thing listed. Unless something in the IT policy is setting an option this may help.

I recently received my 2nd 9930 due to the second scenerio listed above. Anytime someone calls me at the same time I try to make an out going call, the result is a failed out going call and no audio on the other line.

After this "clash", I have zero audio for incoming and outgoing calls until I pull the battery.

I just reported this to Verizon through our phone/IT dept - they mentioned that RIM is aware of this specific issue and should have an update out soon that should address this problem - no ETA could be provided.

Both phones were up to date with OS 7.1.

It's an OS issue that has been plaguing Verizon 9930's since OS 7.1.342 I believe. The support people there are dumber than a damn stick. If you upgrade to 7.1.428 or .437, you should see the issue resolved, at least that's what I've read. I can't believe they're so f#cking dumb that they haven't figgered it out after 10 RMA's for the same issue.

I'm running bundle 457 for OS 7.1 - problem is not fixed. :x

Check the sticky at the top of the 9900 section for the latest OS for your device. Remember that the OS is device specific so a 9900 OS will not work in your 9930.

You don't need a Verizon OS either, as any 9930 OS for any carrier will work.

I have 1189 for os 7.1 and the call waiting glitches still going on I go as far as entering callwaiting code and still not working I can't make conference calls and my phone goes blanks when ever am watching music videos

There is a KB for this issue...and not resolved

KB31588-When an incoming call is received during an outgoing call the audio ceases to function
